High-performance Collection Now Includes Tropical-inspired Light Brown Option

WINCHESTER, Va., August 20, 2012 – Trex Company is once again expanding its popular Trex® Transcend® decking collection to include a new, variegated light brown color called Tiki Torch. This warm, earthy shade features rich, reddish-brown hardwood streaking, and is designed to complement both the two existing tropical-inspired Transcend shades and the five classic Transcend hues. Like all Transcend decking options, Tiki Torch features a combination of superior durability, low-maintenance and eco-friendly qualities.

“The introduction of Tiki Torch is in direct response to consumers who told us they love the exotic appearance and realistic streaking of our Transcend decking tropical colors, but desire a lighter color alternative,” said Ron Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex, the world’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative outdoor living products. “With the addition of Tiki Torch, we’ve enhanced our spectrum of tropical-inspired colors that provides homeowners with greater design flexibility and our professional partners with additional opportunities for sales growth.”

Wide Range of Color Options
Tiki Torch joins seven other rich Transcend decking colors inspired by the great outdoors. The full range of aesthetic options also includes earthy classics with deep wood grains – Tree House (warm earth tone), Vintage Lantern (deep-burnished bronze), Fire Pit (spicy red) Gravel Path (pristine grey) and Rope Swing (a light taupe) – as well as two tropical colors that feature subtle shading, natural variations and hardwood-like striations – Spiced Rum (earthy umber) and Lava Rock (reddish-black). Like the latter two options, Tiki Torch offers the distinctive look of real tropical hardwoods with slight variations of color and streaking.

Each decking color also is designed to coordinate seamlessly with Transcend Railing options in six colors. With modular construction that provides superior design flexibility, contractors and consumers may mix and match balusters, posts and top rails to create a completely customized outdoor living space. Transcend Railing features a strong, sturdy look and feel coupled with quick and easy assembly.

Unprecedented Performance and Aesthetics
The revolutionary Trex Transcend collection first debuted in Spring 2010 and is designed to outperform wood, composite and PVC for decades. Each deck board features a proprietary nine-element surface formulation that produces a natural, wood-like grain pattern with a lustrous satin finish that feels comfortable underfoot. Trex Transcend decking resists fading, staining, scratching and mold – and will not rot, warp, crack or splinter. Upkeep is hassle-free and requires no sanding, staining or painting. In fact, food and drink spills wash off easily with just soap and water.

Although Tiki Torch boasts the beauty of tropical wood, there are no environmental stresses associated with importing endangered hardwoods. In fact, like all Trex wood-alternative products, Transcend decking contains 95 percent recycled content – contributing to the LEED points of any residential or commercial structure – and is certified by the Verification of Attributes Report (VAR-1011) from the International Code Council Evaluation Service® (ICC-ES).

Each Transcend deck board is available in 12’, 16’ and 20’ lengths, as well as two profile options – square and grooved. The grooved boards accommodate the Trex Hideaway® Hidden Fastening System, which allows for a smooth, unfettered finish, free of nails and other visible fasteners. The system’s clips create a seamless look with no screws or screw holes to interrupt the smooth texture and comfortable feel of the decking. The new color, Tiki Torch, is also available in 1”x8” and 1”x12” fascia boards.

The entire Transcend decking collection is backed by a 25-year Limited Fade and Stain Warranty that is unprecedented in the industry and meets the ASTM E84 Class B fire-resistance rating, as required by the California State Fire Marshal.

Trex Transcend in Tiki Torch will be available at retail and to trade in Fall 2012. For more information about Trex products, visit trex.com.
