High-performance Composite Available for 2012 Decking Season

WINCHESTER, Va., October 24, 2011 – Trex Company, the world’s largest manufacturer of wood-alternative decking and railing products, announced the launch of new Trex Enhance™. The high-performance composite decking line features a combination of superior durability, wear-resistance and long-lasting good looks similar to the game-changing Trex Transcend® decking line introduced in early 2010.

“Trex Enhance will both expand and strengthen our high-performance decking portfolio and provide consumers with a composite product that features a multitude of innovative features,” said Ronald W. Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex. “With Trex Enhance, we’re establishing a clear ‘good, better, best’ decking line-up – positioning it between Trex Accents® and Transcend – which allows consumers to select the ideal product to meet their outdoor living needs.”

High-performance Meets Low-maintenance
Like Transcend, the high-performance of Trex Enhance is due to a revolutionary three-sided shell that protects against staining, fading and mold. Enhance won’t rot, warp, crack or splinter – and upkeep is hassle- free. Unlike wood, the product requires no sanding, staining or painting, and its protective shell defends against severe weather and heavy foot traffic while being extremely low maintenance. In fact, spills wash off easily with just soap and water. The entire Enhance decking collection is backed by a 20-year Limited Residential Fade and Stain Warranty for lasting peace-of-mind.

Long-lasting Beauty
Trex Enhance is available in two rich coastal-inspired colors that are engineered right into the board, which allows for a deeper, more natural wood-grain appearance and a low-sheen luster that will last for years to come. Clam Shell is a deep charcoal that is particularly striking on homes with seaside vistas or rustic inland spots, while Beach Dune is a warm honey brown. Both colors may be mixed and matched with Trex Transcend Railing for a completely customized and seamless appearance.

Each Trex Enhance deck board is offered in both square and grooved profiles measuring 1”x5.5”. The grooved boards accommodate the Trex Hideaway® Hidden Fastening System, which allows for a smooth, unfettered finish free of nails and other visible fasteners. Coordinating fascia also is available in 1”x8” and 1”x12” sizes.

True to Trex’s environmentally friendly legacy, Enhance is manufactured of 95 percent recycled content – including reclaimed wood, sawdust and plastic bags.

Retail Availability
Trex Enhance will be available for the 2012 decking season.
“With the addition of Trex Enhance, we’re able to offer our professional partners – as well as consumers – the most robust and strategic decking portfolio in our brand’s history,” said Kaplan.
